Piano Lessons

Want to learn Piano? How this works:

Taking piano lessons is the best place to start for most students! It’s easy for very young students to feel successful right away. Learning the basics on the piano is very common, so you can get the right foundation of music. Many students keep taking piano lessons all the way through high school and into adulthood, but others will take a few years of piano lessons and then try guitar, drums, violin, voice, or another instrument. Many schools require several years of piano lessons before you can play percussion (a coveted and sought after position to play in the band).

At our studio, we have many types of piano teachers. You can learn pop songs, learn to read music, or focus on playing chords by ear. Most students will start with a curriculum that lays the foundation and then teachers will customize lessons to YOUR interests.

If you are an adult who wants to return to piano lessons, you will be surprised how much will come back to you! In no time, you’ll be playing the music that you love and impressing your family and friends!

To take piano lessons, you will need a keyboard or piano at home to practice. You can purchase a keyboard with 61 keys to get started, but you will need the full 88 keys (we recommend that they are weighted so they feel like a real piano), a pedal (so the sound can be sustained and sound better!), and a stand to hold your music. Many parents purchase an acoustic piano used (you’ll want to hire a piano mover because they are heavy!) but others love to start with a keyboard so the student can practice with headphones.

Craigslist is a good resource and you can find a piano for around $200.

Yes. Even if you don’t have a musical background you can ask the teacher for advice on how to help your child practice. By simply monitoring that they are doing exercises a certain number of times per day the student will progress. Parents will occasionally sit in on their child’s music lesson to get an idea of the proper way a song should sound or how the student should be positioning their hands.
